3-4 days in Sudbury, Ontario

We’ll be in Sudbury, Ontario for a couple days in autumn. What do you suggest? We like unique lodging, local foods, walking, shopping, museums, historical architecture and nature. Thanks!

My wife is from Sudbury. I’ve been there 1000 times. So I should be able to answer this. Hmmmm.

Well there’s Science North and Dynamic Earth that might interest you. The latter in particular is an interesting mine experience. Ramsey Lake is pretty and right in the middle of town.

Personally I like to go on the trails behind Laurentian University gymnasium. They will give you a good feel for the terrain/landscape/geology of the area.

Nature is pretty much missing downwind of Canada's tallest smokestack. Where the smoke goes - nothing grows.

Sudbury, home to one of the world's biggest nickel mining operations, has suffered "moonscape" slurs for many decades. Meanwhile rehabilitation of the scarred landscape has been creeping green. And there is certainly a lot of primal rocks and trees a little further away for outdoor activities.. It has a casino, too, although mostly electronic games rather than table gambling.
