20th Anniversary in Niagara Falls - Quick Trip

My husband and I are planning a very quick trip to Niagara Falls 7/15 - 7/17 (2 nights) for our 20th anniversary. I've been reading all the posts, so have a pretty good idea of what we're going to do, but need some help on deciding on the hotel, restaurants, and transportation to and from the airport.

I see that we can take a taxi from the Buffalo airport. Are there other transportation options? (We don't plan on renting a car.)

We plan to stay on the Canadian side and want to stay in an upscale hotel with a great view from the room and within easy walking distance of most of the attractions. We've looked at the Brock Plaza (we're attracted by the historic flavor), as well as the Sheraton On The Falls, and the Marriott Fallsview. Is one of those better than the others, or is there someplace else we should consider? (Our flights are free, so we can spend a bit more than normal on our hotel room.)

Finally, any recommendations on a restaurant for our special anniversary dinner?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Sheraton Inn on the Falls at Clifton Hill would be my choice hands down. Great View, and location is perfect for walking, not having to drive to things.....
Have a dinner at the Brock if you want... You can get as upscale as you want at the Sheraton. Huge Buffet meals, diningroom view of the Falls, just beautiful, and view of both falls from your bed. Attractions just below at street level, and i would suggest a little horse and buggy ride, also right out the hotel door, and Very cheap!!
Enjoy! we do everytime we go!!

I enjoyed the Marriott Fallsview last year, but feel it was too far out of the way if you do not want to have a car. However, I was there in the winter when the cable car was not running, so there was no easy way down to the falls area. Perhaps with the new casino there are improved shuttles to the Marriott, hoepfully someone else will comment.

If you've never done the Maid of the Mist I recommend it - I had probably been to/or/through NF 5 times before I took the boat, and was glad I did it on the 6th trip. It really makes you appreciate the power the falls have.

Enjoy and happy anniversary! Trav

I just got back from the Sheraton on the falls, and really liked this hotel. It is one of the few that has an out door pool, in addition to the indoor. The food at the hotel was ok, not great. There is a starbucks in the lobby if you want a quick bite. The dining room up top has great view of the falls. Request a room high up, as the lower ones only look at the American falls, and I like the canadian falls better. This hotel is across the street from the Maid of the mist, and a 15 minute lovely walk to the journey behind the falls. The aero car and other attractions would be by taxi. I had dinner at the revolving restaurant at the skylon tower, it was expensive and fine, but the view is spectacular. The concierge at the hotel had other recommendations for restaurants that were a taxi ride away. The shops on clifton hill are verrrry touristy. You may want to check into renting a car, the trip from buffalo only took 45 minutes

The best restaurants in the area are about 20 minutes away in the wine country... consider Peller Estates, Strewn, On the Twenty, Vineland, Penninsula Ridge or the village of Niagara on the Lake for French at the Prince of Wales hotel...If you are open budget, a limo with driver and a slow drive through the vineyards will make your dinner a once in a lifetime event... If you have to stay close to the Falls, there is only one rated fine dining restaurant. That is 17 Noir in the Fallsview Casino...avoid all others. Wolfgang Puck has also opened a new restaurant, however it is not fine dining, but a step below at fancy casual and has only been opened for a week...

For hotels, you might consider the Fallsview Casino also...it is all suites with views of the falls... some of those you have listed are in the tacky tourist areas near Clifton Hill.

Finally, for true elegance consider staying in Niagara on the Lake and taking a day trip to the Falls...
