2 weeks in Nova Scotia

Will be heading with husband and 2 girls ( 7 and 10) to Nova Scotia for 2 weeks in August. Looking to rent 2 seperate houses one week each. Thinking of PEI for one of the weeks. Any suggestions for the other week? Also good activities for kids. Thanks.
Bella

If early August there is the buskerfest on the Halifax waterfront. Lots to entertain the girls. Also in Halifax they would enjoy the Harbour Hopper tour which is a vehicle that goes from the land to sea. Whale watching is available as well. Discovery Centre (hands on science & technology) is located in the downtown core. Make sure you stop at Bud the Spud on Spring Garden Rd for french fries. The Museum of Natural History located on Bell Road has lots for the kids. Wonder around the Public Gardens (Spring Garden Rd) and feed the many ducks/pidgeons. Take a trip out to Peggy's Cove - my kids love rock jumping! On the Lucasville Rd there is a fun park for the kids (waterslides, etc.) Also just beyond is Hatfield Farms (horse trails, hay rides). Check out Lawrencetown Beach (you might get a good day) with lots of waves. Great for body surfing or just wave jumping. In PEI I would suggest being near Cavendish - great beaches and lots of theme parks for the kids. You should take them to see Ann of Green Gables production at Confederation Centre in Charlottetown.

Hope this helps.

Dear Tanya
Thank you very much for your help.Do you know of any nice cottages on PEI near Cavendish as you suggested?
Sorry, not familiar enough with PEI. It has been several years since we have visited.

I also forgot to mention the girls might enjoy the Wildlife Park in Shubenacadie. It is on your way from Halifax to PEI or about a 45 minute drive from downtown Halifax. You will see bears, deer, moose, ottars, etc. Outside of Wolfville closer to Greenwood is the Oaklawn Zoo which has tigers, lions, camels, etc. About an hour's drive outside of Halifax.

I heard from friends that the Goodview Cottages are nice on PEI - rustic but on beach in the National park however they have not stayed there for a few years.
