2 days in PEI

My husband and I have only two days in PEI. Is it better to place ourselves in Charlottetown or Summerside or a different town to drive around and explore?

Hi elyse,

I can't speak to Summerside but I'd definitely recommend Charlottetown as a base. Charming, walkable, with some good restaurants and handsome homes & buildings, nice place to unwind after driving to nearby interesting parts of PEI.

Best wishes, Daniel

Thank you, Daniel.

I hate to give the standard tourist answer but I would stay on the north shore - either North Rustico or Cavendish. Such a beautiful area, even with all the tourists.

In the end it probably doesn't matter. It is only a 35 minute drive drive from Charlottetown to those two areas.

Yeah, PEI is quite small when considering tourist travel from even the far end to the far end.

It is so off-the-beaten-path that even Charlottetown seems 'small' in lots of ways.

I certainly wouldn't opt for Summerside, no matter what... as with <I>"two days"</i>, you owe yourselves <I>Charlottetown</i> at the very least.

I would think that a person could take at least a couple of day trips <I>away</i> from Charlottetown during two days there, and <b>still have time for <u>Charlottetown</u> proper.

And I say this having once been to Summerside, very briefly.

I dunno whether it was me who was <I>very brief</i>... OR <i>Summerside</i> which was very brief.

(probably putting-off the $40 toll on the bridge a little longer, that's what I was doing??)
