2-3 days...B.C. or Victoria?
Hello...just wondering if you could give some recommendations for my upcoming trip at the end of May. We will have 5 days to split between Seattle and B.C. or Victoria, just wondering which you would prefer. We will have just returned from a 7 day cruise to Alaska so whale watching isn't a priority. We are a young, active, outdoorsy couple who like to pack as much in our travel as possible without being rushed or spread too thin. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

oops! I meant to say Vancouver instead of British Columbia.....

Vancouver is a big, beautiful and very cosmopolitan city while Victoria is a quaint, small, (400,000), touristy city.
You really couldn't find two more different places so close together. So the choice btween them would definately be a matter of what type of place most appeals to you. My personal advice would be to skip Seattle which is really just a very liveable and pretty but cookie cutter American city and experiance two places that really are quite special. |
I have family in Seattle so I have to spend at least 1 day and night there. We are from Florida so the touristy thing definitely doesn't appeal to us, we try to avoid it at all costs...so maybe Victoria isn't for us? Although I'm sure the "touristy" aspect of Victoria is completely different then Floridas ...

First off I'll tell you I'm biased as I live in Vancouver....but for access to outdoor activities and something completely different than where you're from, Vancouver it is! Victoria's pretty - I take my "older" visitors there and we have high tea at the Empress Hotel, lunch on the inner Harbour and a drive along the coast... but if you're in Vancouver, you can easily go hiking on the North Shore, kayaking at Jericho beach, head up to Whistler for a day/night....lots to do in addition to "city things" like Granville Market, Stanley Park, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, shopping on South Granville and eating in our fabulous restaurants. Come, enjoy!
