1000 Islands August 2026

We will have a few days in the Kingston/Brockville/Gananoque/Morrisburg (Upper Canada Village) area. We will spend a day at Upper Canada Village and would like to do a boat tour on another day. Years ago we did a boat tour that included a Boldt Castle tour, so that wouldn't be absolutely necessary (but nice, if it happens.) We're looking for recommendations for your favorite boat tours from any of the above locations. We're also researching for an AirBnB that's convenient to those two activities, but wonder which city/town would be the most convenient to stay in and which might offer some local attractions.
Thanks.

Hi Eileen

I’ve done a harbour boat tour out of Kingston, a 1,000 Island boat tour out of Gananoque (often just called Gan for short) and also out of Brockville to Singer Castle. On the Canadian side, there are also 1,000 island tours out of Kingston (takes longer to get to the 1,000 Islands from there), Ivy Lea and Rockport. I enjoyed all my experiences but often people pick to go to Gan for a 1000 Islands boat as it’s close to a high density of islands. Kingston has the most to do though, being a city of about 100,000 people—Fort Henry is a definite highlight there. Brockville is intermediate with activity and a town of about 20,000 people while Gan is around 6,000 people. There are some friendly pubs and restaurants in all three. Wishing you a great time whatever you choose, Daniel
