trip to australia/new zealand
I cannot imagine not enjoying Australia and this is my second trip here. Fiji is fascinating with its third world conditions and the people there are the nicest I've ever met. If you go, be sure to visit the village of Levena on the island of Taveuni. New Zealand is the most beautiful place in the world. Make sure to see both islands, they are so different. I saw N.Z. on a bus tour and enjoyed it immensely. Australia does seem Americanized, but it is still a great experience.

You've got to see Australia. If you're going to Sydney see the Blue Mountains and the Three Sisters. Take a 1 day tour. Well worth it. Don't know why you were told you wouldn't like Australia, it's very nice. I'm going back in Sept. (2nd trip) Buy a Red Bus pass at the airport (3 days) and you can hop on and off at all the special sights in Sydney and also take a cruise on the Bay and go to Manley. As for New Zeland, GORGEOUS! I took a 7-day tour of the So. Island (Cook Tours) and loved it, Dunedin, Milford Sound, Queensland, etc. Tons of sheep! Also went to No. Island 2 years ago and it is majestic too. Gloworm Caves, lakes, the coast, the Peninsula across from Auckland. Check out the web sites for these 2 places, I'm sure you'll come home and rave about them, as I always have.

The Great Barrier Reef in Australia has hundreds of tropical islands that are ideal for relaxing. Sydney to me is the most beautiful big city in the world.
New Zealand climate isn't as nice as Australia's except The East Cape and Northland. But if anyone knows of a country that can rival it for beauty then please tell me and I will go there.

Florida couple in early retirement would like to casually tour the land of OZ and New Zealand over a 30 day period in October, 1998. We would like to find a Point of Contact to coordinate self-directed travel and tours. We prefer the "low-key" travel approach rather than the crowded pre-programed packaged tours. Any suggestions or contacts would be very nice.

Kangaroo Island. I will be spending two days on Kangaroo Island and am interested in seeing wildlife. Can anyone suggest an itinerary. Is a guide recommended for best wildlife viewing or can you do it on your own with a 4wd. Anyone stay close to the park? Recommendations please.

HI- I have 2 wonderful B&B's to recommend in NZ. The Saltings in Warkworth is about 90 min north of Auckland. Run by a delightful lady, Jean Mason. Telephone 09-425-9670. Her home has a fabulous view, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. On South Island in Nelson, call Judy at 548-8567. She will bend over backards to make sure you have a great time. Once you are in NZ you can pick up a copy of The NZ Bed & Breakfast Book which has homestays, farmstays and Inns listed. Have a great time! I'd go back in a minute!

We live in Christchurch New Zealand and would love to help anyone coming to New Zealand. Email us direct if you like.
We have seen all of New Zealand over the years. North of the North Island is lovely as is the Coromandal Area and East Cape. Because we are South Islanders we perhaps are more biased to the South because of it mountains, rivers and short distances to travel. Not as many people either. We have used B&B in the North Island and they were very good. Temperatures at the moment are in the late 20 - 30 degrees. More humid in the top of the North Island.
Plenty of ski fields to choose from in the winter. Many out door activities can be had from Balloon rides to horse back riding, bungy jumping, white water rafting etc. You name it and it is probably done hereSnow usually around the mountains from early July to October. It is a great place. Easy to drive, and very good roads.
