sydney hotel help
My wife and I will be in Sydney for 5 days in late April looking for Hotel with convenient location to sights. I am thinking of either Westin Sydney, Sheraton On the Park or one of the Marriots. Any recommendations would be appreciated. We do enjoy walking if that is a consideration

Westin Sydney is a great location - right in the middle of the busioness district, and not too far to walk to Circular Quay, buses, ferries or trains. (I presume it's the one in the old Post Office.
Sheraton on the Park is a bit further away from the action, but a nice location opposite Hyude Park.
Marriott - dunno - depends on which one you pick. Keep away from Darling Harbour, which is the home of tacky!

We have stayed at the Sheraton on the Park many times - and highly recommend it - for all the normal reasons. The rooms are comfortable, the outlook over Hyde Park is lovely, the staff are excellent (which is borne out by the length of time most have been employed at the hotel).
We have only used the Brasserie Restaurant which has a very good buffet - including extensive seafood selection.
The hotel is opposite the Bus Stop for any Eastern Suburb Buses i.e Bondi, Watsons Bay etc. & St. James underground station and a block from Martin Place or Town Hall underground railway stations.
It is an easy fifteen minute walk to either Darling Harbour or Circular Quay.
The Westin is also a very good hotel, for many of the same reasons, but I do prefer the Sheraton.

The Westin is an excellent hotel. But I would recommend that you try to stay a little closer to Circular Quay because as a first time visitor, that's where a lot of your attractions are located. Our first trip, we stayed at Quay West and it was very nice but I found that we would have rather been closer to Circular Quay. We also stayed at the Westin our last night but found it can be a pain to get to when traffic is bad. We're going next week and staying at Sir Stamford at Circular Quay which is next to the Botanical Gardens. Also near there would be Marriott Harbor, the Intercontinental as well as Quay Grand. Wotif.com has a nice mapping feature.
