Outback Roadtrip - Wycliffe Well or Wauchope?

My family and I are planning a roadtrip vacation and driving from Uluru to Alice Spring to Darwin. We plan to stay in some of the fun/quirky pubs and roadhouses on the way up. Based on timing, I think we will be in the Wycliffe Well / Wauchope area. I see that both locations have places to stay. Has anyone ever stayed in either town at the Wycliffe Well Roadhouse or the Wauchope Hotel and do you have a favorite? Also, any other recommendations for the journey are appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Can't help you with either of those places as we bush camped most of the way 'up'. I found this though that might be of interest.

Not sure about those two... but I heard the roadhouse is famous for UFO sightings Although, a couple of friends of mine stayed at Wycliffe Well Holiday Park last year when they travelled, and they said it was great.. very relaxed, and very much "country-like".

The Holiday Park website mentions UFO sightings as well - it made me chuckle!
