Maupiti as a daytrip from Bora Bora?

Has anyone been to Maupiti as a daytrip from Bora Bora? What did you think?

Hi, we have been to FP twice, but not to Maupiti (yet). However, we read lots of postings on other travel sites and I'm not sure I'd want to do a day trip. I think I would go for a few days and fly rather than take the ferry from BB.

Everything I've ever read indicates a very rough crossing because the water is very deep between the two islands. The ride can be rough to very rough, and usually there's a few who get sick, so be aware. THere are apparently "puke" buckets at the end of each row on the ferry....Sounds like a fun ride!!

Thanks for the warning. This is nothing I have heard about at all.

Better yet...I have a friend who lives in Bora Bora. I'll email him and ask him how it is. He'll know for sure; he was born and raised there. Stay tuned!

Talked to my friend and yes, it tends to be rough. Most locals sleep it off, but the tourists seems to be the ones to get sick!! However, it shouldn't be a problem if you have "sea legs", or have Gravol handy. If you hand up by going, let us know how it went. When are you going?

Thanks. Being born and living on Bora Bora and having French as your first language sounds like paradise!

I have 1 out of 3...! French is my first language so it makes communication in FP very easy. I'm also learning tahitian, just for fun. Unfortunately, I wasn't born there (maybe in a future life - I hope!), but I'm working on a master retirement plan to be able to live there part of the year. It is a VERY addictive destination. Nothing compares. Have a great trip! Nana! (Goodbye in Tahitian)
