Itinerary advice: 21 days in Aus and NZ in April

I am keen to go to Australia and NZ in April, as I hahve 3 weeks off work. I know both are huge countries and I will only scratch the surface but as I am leaving Asia (where I live) its convenient to go now, when I have this stretch of time and jetlag will be minimal.

I have a rough itinerary - what do people think? Am I rushing through too much or is this all manageable?

Start – Fly to Cairns. Cairns: up to Port Douglas for some GBR time. 4 days. May to go stay at a resort island for a night or two although they are expensive eg Magnetic Island. A
Thanks Fodorites for the recommendations so far, eg Heron Island (further south than Port D). Am still looking into what might be most economical. I dont dive but would love to snorkel.

Day 5 – back to Cairns, fly to Sydney

Day 6, 7 – In Sydney - boat ride to Manly, Bondi Beach, hanging around.

Day 8 – day trip (or overnight?) To Blue Mountains

Day 9 – Sydney or Blue Mountains

Day 10 – down to Melbourne, poss via Canberra, depending on my friends who live I Canberra. Will take train if possible.

Day 11-14 – Melbourne and day trip to nearby Yarra Valley

Day 16 – fly to Queenstown, NZ. Had wanted to go to Christchurch but will bypass that but fly to Queenstown for 6 days in Milford Sound, Q’town, Wanaka poss Fox Glacier.

Day 22 - Queenstown-Melbourne/best connection to fly back home.
