Just be aware that Tahiti will be way more costly, if that is a factor. You will discover the reality of the $25.00 hamburger.

Is it really that expensive. That is hard to believe. If it is that could be a deterrent.

If you are staying at the big resort (even these are not really all that big by many standards) it really is that expensive (think "very high-end" prices for accomodation and dining in a place like Maui).

Small, independently owned "mom & pop" type resorts will be a lot less. Anyway you cut it however FP is not cheap. For a similar place, but much cheaper, look into the Cook Islands.

Its that expenisve. An MD I know went there about 4 yrs. ago and said he paid $35.00 for breakfast. I too was skeptical but did some WWW research and found this to be pretty accurate. I also found out then about the $25.00 hamburger. In addition a co-worker of mine had a boyfriend in Tahiti and went there several times and she confirmed about how expensive it is there. You could consider a Club Med. I would love to go there as well but I think if we ever do it will be via a FP cruise so the food factor will be alot less. Alternatively have you considered Fiji? It is beautiful, has very friendly people and is way less than FP. In 2001 we went there and spent around $50.00 for dinner for 3! Of course the USD was much stronger then.
