The Michaelmas Cay trip is really cool. I wouldn't bother going on a semi-submersible just go snorkeling or scuba diving the whole day!

Earlier this year our family spent 15 days with daintree air. During the tour
we visited the Kimberleys, Arnhemland, Kakadu, Uluru, Alice Springs,Carnarvon, Cape York and Lizard Island.

The whole tour was crammed with exciting, interesting fun activities for all members of our family.

The day we spent at Lizard was very special. You will love the snorkelling over the huge clams and the magnificent corals.

Our guide took us for a hike along china mans ridge down over the rocks to Watson’s Bay where we spent most of the day before walking down the airstrip to the blue lagoon beach where we swam through some mangroves.
This was seriously like swimming in a huge fish tank.

We could not single out any one experience as the very best experience but the Lizard Island day was special.

daintreeair.com.au has been mentioned many times on this and other boards.

We actually found them on an other forum where people had travelled with them 10 years ago.

We loved every minute of the adventures we had with them.

Pam.

Pam, I was really interested in your post about your tour with Daintree Air. We also went to Lizard for the one day tour with Greg, and are interested in something more this coming trip, especially Carnarvon Gorge. Did you think it was worth a special effort to get there? It sounds wonderful. Did you book Daintree for a private tour or was it part of a tour they offered? You said your family went on the trip, was it just your immediate family or did you arrange for a full plane of relatives to make the trip more affordable?
To gagash, you can't go wrong going to Lizard with Daintree, that day was a standout in a trip of standout days. Views, walks, fabulous snorkeling, good food, a soul-filling sunset--just excellent.

To SnR
Carnarvon was no problem as we landed on an airstrip just a few miles from where the hike to the art work begins. The hike is around 20 kms but is easy going with many small creek crossings which are more fun than a problem. The art was worth the hike and the hike was fun anyway. We flew to a tiny town called Longreach at the end of the day to visit the quantas museum. Longreach was also well worth visiting for it’s history and of course the starting point of Australia’s great airline. We learned how to swing the billy at longreach. The guy who showed us how to do it said he was the only licensed billy swinger in the country.

Daintreeair put the entire itinerary together for us.There is no way we could have known any thing about the places we went. At tmes we were like a thousand miles form any signs of civilisation. Nothing could prepare us for what we experienced.

The momories of the rock art the landscapes the culture and the massive water falls in the Kalumbaru and Timor Sea region in Northern Kimberley’s are etched into our memories for ever.

We had two other people from New Zealand on the plane with us. They were enquiring about a tour across Australia at the same time we were so Daintree put us together which worked very well for all. Not only did we make some wonderful friends, we also experienced the most exciteing tour to the most beautiful places any of us had ever been.

Pam, thanks for your info on Carnarvon Gorge with Daintree. I never thought of just going to Carnarvon without staying there. I wrote to Greg about another part that we want to do to see the Aboriginal art around Laura in FNQ and he can arrange it, along with snorkeling at Lizard for the day. Pretty tempting, although the "bush camping" doesn't appeal! I guess the sky's the limit if you own a plane, know the right people, and know the terrain in Australia! All pricey, though, so we have to balance it with what is available on the ground.
