I know this is a dumb question and it all depends on what we are doing but the end of March for Queenstown...what should we take to wear?

Layers, casual. It will be coolish - it's Autumn. Queenstown is a holiday destination.

We were in Queenstown last March and it was the warmest we'd ever experienced in our eight trips to the SI.

It was shorts weather.

Having said that, you just never know what the weather will do, so go prepared for anything.

A waterproof jacket is always a good idea in NZ, regardless of the time of year.

Mel is right. March has a fairly good chance of warm, clear weather...it can be like our "Indian Summer". Of course it can also rain, blow wind, etc... and all in one day. I don't think it's snow weather quite that early though.

Casual. Queenstown is a sports and activity center.

My husband was in Wanaka (near Queenstown) last Christmas and it snowed during that time. Make sure you have something warm. I always take a fleece jacket (or two) and they get worn more than anything else. Don't forget your waterproof jacket.
