Am I doing too much!

I am going to Australia on December 9th, first time (bucket list) and trying to fit a lot in. I had started to finalize it when a friend said I must add Uluru. Please tell me if this is too much:

Land in Cairns Dec. 11th
12th - Kuranda or Cairns
13th - Dive boat
14th - Cape Tribulation and River Cruise
15th -- Fly to Port LIncoln
16th - Shark Cage Dive
17th - Fly to Kangaroo Island for day and nght touring
18th - Was going to fly directly to Sidney, but now thinkig of flyiing to Uluru for tour and Sunset Dinner
19th -Sunrise morning tour and then fly to Sydney
20th - 23rd in Sydney.

Should i add Uluru or am I doing too much? This would make 4 nights in Sydney instead of 5, but extra flying.

thanks, Susan

Well, it is a bit much in a somewhat short time, but if this is a long-anticipated dream and you're traveling light so the many get-up-early-and-catch-a-flight moves don't become a bother, I'd say hit those targets you so wish to hit, including Uluru - it's awesome in its unique way.

But see if you can get flights that streamline this a bit - from Cairns to Ayers Rock for Uluru for example. Take the currently one-a-day non-stop flight, Qantas 1851, currently leaving Cairns at 07:30AM. The timetable may change by the time you get there, and maybe other nonstop flights because it gets into summer and the holiday season by then.

Then fly on to South Australia, saves you backtracking across half the continent before ending up in Sydney.

I think you are doing too much, you will spend a lot of your time in airports.

Michelhuebeli has given very good advice for reducing the amount of time. A couple of other thing to think about: what is the reason for going to Kangaroo Island, many report it underwhelming and there are plenty of places you can see wildlife if the name is luring you. Around Cairns, for example.

As it's December you are coming, I would think seriously about whether you can stand the heat in the Centre.

Thanks for the advice. We are doing Kangaroo Island because we had heard it was great. A zoo without cages. flying directly from Cairns to Ayers Rock is better, but I would not be able to do the shark dive in Port Lincoln. It is not every day. So if I were to do Uluru it would have to be after Kangaroo Island.

You are right, though. It would be very hot in the center and I would be on planes one extra day.

It is so hard. I want to see everything, but may not be able too. Uluru can only happen if I cut a day out of Sydney and spend an extra day on planes. Tough decision.

Uluru is a long way to go for 1 day and it will be unbearably hot! It is up to you but advice would be to skip it and spend the extra time in Sydney. You don't want to spend your whole holiday in airports!

Boors,

though I am not a diver, my DH is, and in our planning for our trip to Oz in November, one thing we have had to take into account is the advice not to fly within 24 hours of diving. this is because of the risk of the diver developing the bends or decompression sickness.

i see that you itinerary has you flying to Kangaroo island the day after doing a shark cage dive.
leaving aside the dubious ecological affect of cage diving generally, this may not be advisable from a medical point of view.

My advice will be to skip Uluru. It will take much traveling time and its will be summer time. If you want to go than extend one or two days in your holiday.
