We are going on a cruise leaving from Papeete & will have 3 night pre cruise & 1 post cruise in December 09 & looking for accommodation. Looking at the Intercontinental & le Meridien . Any feedback on these hotels or other suggestions greatly appreciated.

Have stayed at The Intercontinental - did 2 nites in an over-the-water bungalow; nice view, some privacy, but the A/C was a noisy, water dripping wall unit.
Have also stayed in one of their main hotel buildings; that was a lovely room (luxury bathroom) with a great 2nd story balcony view of the property...the pools, restaurant and staff were wonderful.

We did a one-week cruise last Feb., and spent two days pre-cruise at the Hilton (previously Sheraton) on Moorea. Very easy quick flight, loved the resort. Then an easy ferry back to Papeete, which docked next door to our cruiseship.

Just be aware that the ferry only runs in daylight, and many folks arrive after sunset. So look at your schedule, you may have to spend a night in Papeete even if you decide on Moorea (which I second.)
