Which airlines travel from Sydney to Hobart?
 

Hello.<BR><BR>I only know of Qantas who flies from Sydney to Hobart. I am searching around for the cheapest flight and am wondering which other airlines take this route? Any suggestions for finding a cheap ticket?<BR>Cheers,<BR>xx

Only Qantas flies direct. Virgin Blue fly to Hobart with a connection in Melbourne. Their web site www.virginblue.com.au has details

The Sydney-Melbourne leg is a competitive route which often sees specials; the less-travelled Sydney-Hobart route occasionally has good deals, but not nearly as frequently. If prices are fairly steep at the time you wish to travel, consider the alternative of flying from Sydney to Melbourne and then taking the overnight ferry to Tasmania -- a pleasant change from a hotel room!

Alan is right about the costs and the ferry suggestion is a good one. As of last month there are now 2 ferries so there are trips every night. They leave Melbourne at 9pm and get into the north of Tasmania at around 7am. You can take a car as well.

Alan is right about the new ferries being a good alternative. I understand that during the summer months, they will be sailing during daylight hours as well/instead of, the overnight passages.
