Where to stay In French Polynesia
Hello- I am planning a honeymoon to Bora-Bora, Moorea and Tahiti. Is the BBLR really the best place to stay- is it even worth it to look anywhere else?

WHat is the best place to stay on Moorea? Is it worth it to spend any time on Tahiti? It seems like most people just land there and high tail it to the other islands... Any advice ismuch appreciated

My take on the resorts of Bora Bora:

http://www.epinions.com/trvl-review-4898-454CA523-3A4B759E-prod3

Regarding Tahiti: The island is very pretty, but it seems the beaches are not up to the level on the other islands.

Ken

Julie: A graffiti sign scrawled on a washroom wall in Tahiti sums it up, "if you haven't got money, what are you doing here?" French Polynesia has to be the most expensive place to stay in the South Pacific. I actually camped with a tent on Bora Bora for $40 US a night!! On the other hand, Bora Bora has to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world. ( I have visited other destinations in the South Pacific). Moorea is also pretty spectacular. From what I saw of Papette, and environs, it is the place from which you leave to get to the more attractive islands. Others will have to give you advice on hotel accomodations, because most were beyond my price range.

Thanks for your advice on resorts.
I am trying to decide between Hotel Bora Bora and Bora Bora Lagoon resort. I like the idea of being so close to town/restaurants etc. and Bora Bora Lagoon resort has a pool and more activities than Hotel Bora Bora. Any other advice is much appreciated!

I would always pick Hotel Bora Bora, but that's just me. Smaller, actually on the island & the bures are more private. You cannot cram that many overwater bungalows together & not take away from the solitude. But my comparisons are also with other places in the South Pacific less traveled so to me it does seem more crowded. But the island is beautiful never the less!

Last January I stayed five nights on Moorea at the Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort, which was very new then, and five nights on Bora Bora at Pearl Beach. I loved both places. I was delighted that they were both relatively new but also had the tahitian flare to them. I had heard before we went that some of the resorts were run down.
Although the travel agent tried hard to get us to stay one night in Tahiti we had heard it not nearly as enjoyable and opted not to do so. We met others who did and they didn't enjoy it.

I loved my trip and hope I get to return some day. I've been to many islands and enjoyed this trip the most.

Theresa
