When is the Best Time

When is the best time to travel to Perth Australia? Any suggestions on places to see and best places to eat at. Thank you for your time!

Hi gmccoll -

I live in Perth. Personally, I think the best time to visit is between April and November, when it's cool, but that's also the rainy season, such that it is. The wildflowers are in bloom from about Sept-Oct in/around Perth, a bit later if you travel further south.

It's gets bloody hot here between December and March, and unless like its really warm, I'd suggest avoiding those months.

I have lots of suggestions for things to see and do, how long will be you be here?

Flowers out earlier to the north.

Perth is a great city for visitors and there is much to do and see in the area.

We will be in Perth in early March also, for about a week. We are planning time to visit Margaret River as we both like the water, and wineries too. What other suggestion do you have, Melinq8 ? Thanks, Gail

Hi WindsurfingGail -

Loads to do here.

I have an ongoing thread here on Fodor's that outlines some of the things we've done over the past few months. It mostly revolves around nearby national parks, nature reserves and wineries, but the March 22 entry gives some ideas for things to do right in the city and includes some links:

In addition to what's listed:

Fremantle (museum, old prison, brewery, historical buildings), Rottnest Island (quokkas), the Perth Aquarium, Burswood (Casino and entertainment complex) the many beaches (Cottesloe is a nice one), Swan River Cruises, etc.

On your way to MR, you might want to stop at the Busselton Jetty -

Your week will fly by.

WindsurfingGail -

I forgot to mention that I also have several detailed trip reports that cover several areas of WA posted here on Fodors. If you're interested in reading them, just click on my name, then scroll down to trip reports. They might give you a few ideas.
