What to do at Ayer's Rock

What is there to do at Ayer's Rock exactly other than walk around the rock itself?

Look at the rock itself and watch for dingos

Visit the visitors' centre; take a ranger walk around the rock; visit the Olgas and do the Valley of the Winds walk; do the dinner in the desert tour (fairly expensive I believe); watch the changing colours of sunrise and sunset on the rock. If you have time, Kings Canyon is spectacular with a great walk round the rim.

You can take a flight to Kings Cannon, a Harley Motor Bike ride to the Olgas, & everything Marg has recommended. Your accom is not walking distance to the rock either which is a surprize to most tourists. Where else in Australia will you be going?

Most anything you do at The Rock (Uluru) is expensive. The hotels, the tours, the helicopter tours - super expensive. You must be shuttled out to the rock but then You cannot walk all around the rock cause there are some areas that are considered sacred AND you should not climb the rock as it is sacred to the Aboriginals.

Add to that the cost of getting there and you'll soon see what I'm saying. It's a rock.....
