It sounds excellent - very busy but you will certainly see a lot. You haven't said at what time of year you will be travelling. If in Australia's spring (late August/September), another day at Kalbarri would be good as the wildflowers are spectacular around that area.
Nothing much to do at Monkey Mia except see the dolphins or swim or take a boat ride but by then you will probably need a day off from travelling. One place I would definitely recommend for sightseeing is New Norcia, about an hour north of Perth. Old Benedictine monastry, schools, churches - most interesting and unexpected. If you go there, make sure you take a tour. Hope you have a great holiday. |
Wow - sound fantastic. But are you sure you can get into Kalbarri one day and out the next? I wasn't aware that the bus service was that regular. And even if it is, what are you going to do there with two half days? I see you have a whole day allocated to Monkey Mia and another whole day to Coral Bay. MM is overrated in my opinion and Coral Bay is not the highpoint of that area.
Sound massively manic. I guess you must have done loads of research and satisfied yourselves that the connex by public transport are there. It's good news that the service up the west coast is more frequent than I remember it. But I am still amazed that on Day 15 you are going to get from Newman to Broome in one day. My 5 cents' worth. |
This is the kind of info I want to hear so please keep adding your comments. Thanks

My wife and I are planning this exact same trip within the next 6 months. We are in the planning stage now. What a delightful surprise to run across this posting! Thank you all for your advice.
Within the last 5 years we have enjoyed Sydney, Melbourne, Alice Springs, Cairns and Tasmania. Twice. Now on to Perth and Broome. Then Darwin. John |
G'day Travllady,
a good itinerary but busy, busy ! As has already been mentioned, you haven't really got enough time for Kalbarri. Monkey Mia isn't really much and I suggest you take a Cruise on a Catamaran. Chances are you'll see many more Dolphins that way. Also there isn't near enough time to enjoy the 4WD trip from Karratha to Newman and back You'll be mostly just sitting in the car. Check also if the 4WD car is a Toyota Troop Carrier, most of them have side facing hard benchseats. Not at all comfortable! Two additional days would make a huge difference. Enjoy, Mike |
