R there any Wendy's restaurant in Sydney?<BR>If yes, where are they located?

I don't think so, although I do think that someone said there was, but there are some great Australian restaurants which should be worth trying. I love going to Newtown just for the many different restaurants along the main street. Great prices too.

I have only ever seen Wendy's in shopping centres selling icecreams &amp; drinks. Sorry can't help you.

Yes, I agree with Aussie -- in Australia, Wendy's is a chain of ice-cream stands in shopping malls. I don't know what their connection is (if any) to the US chain. Pity, as I found them better value for money than the other fast-food chains when I was in the States... even if the food wan't noticeably better.

There was as least a couple of Wendys in Melbourne in the Eighties but they just disappeared.

Who needs fast food when there are so many great places to eat in Australia? I don't think we had a burger the whold time we were there. Try the RSL clubs. Good atmosphere and pretty good food.

That, Beth, is a VERY good suggestion, and one which more visitors should heed. An enthusiatic second!

I am resisting the urge to make a sarcastic comment (sorry) but I always wonder what the value of travelling is if you don't go outside your comfort zone.<BR><BR>There are no Wendy's in Australia, although there are Burger Kings (sometimes known as Hungry Jacks), McDonald's, and KFC. I think I saw a Taco Bell in Sydney.<BR><BR>The food in Australia is wonderful, plentiful, and reasonably priced. The focus is on fresh ingredients, even in the takeaway shops. Some of the best finds are in the local, family-owned shops that are all over the place. You will be able to find all kinds of sandwiches, burgers, pies, etc. as well as lovely Asian influenced food. Thai food is very big in Australia, as is other Southeast Asian food (Vietnamese, etc) and Middle Eastern food (Lebanese, especially). This is due to the large numbers of people who migrated, especially in the post-WWII era. Many of these restaurants/shops are run by families, and the food is amazingly authentic. You'll also find that most restauranteurs in local family places are quite friendly and will happily tell you more about the food, how it's prepared, the background of the food and it's significance in the culture of their country.<BR><BR>Longwinded, I know, but take a chance and explore. If you are asking because you have children who may be picky eaters and want what they know, introduce them slowly to new foods (especially ethnic foods) and they will thank you later in life.<BR>

Deb is 100% correct. In over 50 countries that I have been to Australia still has the best quality, value and range of takeaway food -excluding the American style chains. If you want a burger, the best come from the old fashioned cafes/milk bars - those run by Italians/Greeks /Australians that have been at the same place for over 10 years. Quality and quantity are far superior to anything from Wendy's -even when that chain was really good (UK in the mid 80s). Probably now have a greater chance of getting a really good burger in a country town, but can still get them in the city.
