Weather now in Sydney
 

Hi, I'm planning to travel next week to Sydney and just want to be sure on what kind of weather I should expect. Would light or medium jacket be enough? Fyi, current temp where I come from is 28 degrees celsius : ) thanks, appreciate any advise.

You're in luck. It's going to get warmer from Thursday onwards - high of 21C to 24C. Light or medium would depend on your tolerance of colder temperatures at night.

I use this website for 10 day forecasts. I'm sure there are others and the local BOM sites.

You can get away with a light jacket but it has been quite breezy and as a result cooler than the temperature appears to indicate especially in the morning and early evening

Last Friday night and all day Saturday, it rained continously so bring an umbrella!

Even though it was a perfect spring day today and warm in the sun in the middle of the day, it's really hardly reached the low 20s in the past week. On the wet days it's been in the mid teens and much cooler overnight - zero tonight in the far western suburbs.

Hi sue lynne, as I come from a tropical country would a light trench coat be inadequate for warmth?

I would want more than a light trench coat in the mornings & evenings, I think. I live in Sydney & have a wrap/coat/sweater/jumper on at night and early mornings.
Mornings & evenings in the CBD are around 9-12 at the moment. Still, you can probably pick up an additional wrap/sweater whatever when you get here if you need it.

A trenchcoat over a *warm* jumper or sweatshirt would probably be enough - definitely not a trenchcoat alone. Even though I live here I haven't discarded winter woollens yet. The forecast is for mid twenties this weekend, but it's still cool overnight and in the morning, and there's more rain around. Hopefully you'll have some nice sunshine too.

Today was magic - over 28 degrees celsius - but it's supposed to get colder again next week.

That was Saturday. Today has been all over the place - coolish and drizzling - sunny - torrential rain and as I write, at 4.34 pm, it is Sunny and slightly breezy - 23 degrees.

As you can see, it's very hard to predict hat's happening with Spring weather.

And today, Monday, is cloudless, very warm, and windy...excellent for washing!

You're probably right Bushranger, but the OP was a month ago & it was a bit cooler then.
