Vanuatu earthquake

There has been a report on TV about 5 minutes ago about an 8.3 earthquake in Vanuatu but there seems to be nothing on the Internet - does anyone have any further information?

In the NZ Herald it says that there will be news soon and a Tsunami warning has been issued but I don't know for what region - its no wonder people drown in these tsunamis when it takes so long to get the news out to people. By the way it was an 8.1 not 8.3
I have friends there and am hoping for more information very soon.

Just caught the tail end of a radio report, ivenotbeeneverywhere.

It said there was a tsunami warning for Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia, PNG and something about parts of the Australian coast, but missed what that was. 10.02 Sydney time.

Thanks Bokhara2 - we have been able to contact friends and they are OK but they don't know what is going on around the Island as yet.

Just heard a chap from Vanuatu on the radio. He said there doesn't seem to be any drama there - and that the quake was something like 6.8 and further out than previously reported.
He also said one of their volcanoes had been acting up a little recently, but didn't seem overly concerned.
