Vale - Peterallan, a fine Australian Fodorite
I'm very sorry to tell you that Peter passed away last night.
He's been a Fodorite since 2004 & if you saw any of his posts, you will have had a glimpse of the helpful, generous & charming gentleman behind the whimsical "Peterallan " nickname. Some of you have met him, here at GTGs & in NYC. In one part of his life, he was a helpful friendly face greeting people at the Sydney International Airport. Peter, like his Fodors namesake, called Australia home. I was privileged to call him Friend & am sad beyond words just now. In a little while, I'll remember all the great lunches we've had - trying new restaurants & dishes. - sharing plates, a good red & a stinky cheese; customarily being the last to leave. Peter's partner asked that I advise his Fodors friends & I know you will join me in sending our sincere condolences & very warmest wishes to his family & friends. |
Peteralan was such a lovely man and I'm so happy that I was able to meet him at an
Aussie GTG. My sincerest sympathies to his partner, his sister and all his family and my sympathy to you also Bokhara. |
I'm sorry to hear the news Bokhara, his posts weere always informative and without malice

It's such awful news, I always enjoyed his posts and I'm very sad that I didn't have an opportunity to meet him.

I spent one of the loveliest afternoons of my life with Peter under the Brooklyn Bridge on the outdoor terrace of the River Cafe, watching the boats float by. Rest in peace good friend.
|
Very sorry to hear. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

A lovely tribute Bokhara.
I never met Peter, but I feel I knew him though his posts, as I do with so many contributors on the Australia & Pacific board. Condolences to his partner, family and friends. A sad day indeed. |
It is comforting to read such appreciative comments about our beloved brother peteralan who shared a love of travel with us and with you all. He took great pleasure in participating in Fodor forums, giving and receiving advice and information, making some special friends along the way. I shall look in from time to time and offer what I can about Australia and especially Sydney, the city he loved and was very proud of. Happy travels.
