Using US adapters and splitters in Australia

I would like to be able to plug in multiple battery chargers, ipod chargers, etc while traveling in Aus. Does anyone know if it's safe to plug a US splitter (turns one socket into 2 sockets) into an I-type Aussie-adapter? A few of the splitters I saw were only 110-120v.

Does that I mean need to find a splitter that accepts 220-240v to plug it into an I-type(Australia) adapter?

Thx!

Yes.

The battery chargers will also need to be 110/120 - 220/240 compatible.

Can anyone tell me if most sockets in Australia are 2-prong (non-grounded) or 3-prong (grounded)? Thanks again!

I'm worried about purchasing a 3-prong adapter and then not being able to plug it in anywhere!

For about $25 USD you can get a device that plugs into the cigarette lighter of your rental vehicle and converts 12V to 120V. You only get one outlet, but being 120V, perhaps you can use your current equipment in that outlet...

Don't worry Alwrain, the socket in the wall will always be for three prongs.
