yentavetch, if you're renting a car in Turkey, just watch out for the petrol (gasoline) cost per litre, makes Australian costs for fuel look cheap. US$ and $AU converted into Turkish lira are about the same, about $1.40 to the Turkish lira. So we're really in the same boat, as far as Turkey is concerned at least.

I probably will not be driving much. I am staying in Istanbul and I'll use public transport there. The only way I'd use the car would be to take a day trip outside of Istanbul. I am sort of hesitant to drive there, however, and, if there is convenient public transport, I'll use the Turkish bus system.
