Twelve Apostles in one day???

Hi we are travelling to Melbourne next month. Is it possible to drive from Melbourne to the Great Ocean Road (including twelve apostles) and back in one long day? We have a very tight timeline but don't want to miss the Great Ocean Road.
Any thoughts or suggestions??
Thanks in advance

ian, it is possible, but it will be a very long day :-)

We have the same problem. Is it better to self-drive, or take a bus tour? With self-drive, approximately how many hours should it take to get there and back in one day, allowing for reasonable time to stop at points of interest?

Where is (are) the nicest place(s) to stay overnight if we can manage to squeeze in the time?

A good way to search for info that may help you is to go to the search engine www.looksmart.com.au and then put in - Great Ocean Road or Shipwreck Coast, the twelve apostles are near Peterborough. There are a lot of B&Bs you could stay at, if you are not going during a holiday season you would not need to book. Peg

We drove back to Sydney from Warranambool in one day via the GOR. I think you can do it in a day easily as long as you leave early. Good luck. It is spectacular.
