What is the the best site to get a travel visa to Aust. from the U.S.? How long are they good for?

Best to go direct to the source - you can apply and pay online, visas are usually instantaneous and electronically linked to your passport.

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling as a visitor to Australia, you would apply for an ETA which is valid for travel in Australia for up to 3 months.

If you want to stay longer, you would have to apply for a different type of visa.

ETAs are valid for multiple entries for one year from the date of issue. The duration of each stay can be up to 3 months.
