Travel Agents that know Tahiti

My fiancee and I are trying to plan our honeymoon to Tahiti this August. We know where we want to go and how much we want to spend, but seem to be having a very difficult time finding a travel agent who knows enough about the Tahitian islands that can plan a trip to suit our needs. If anyone knows of a great travel agent that can help us out please pass them along! TIA.

The Tahiti Tourisme Web site has a list of Tahiti specialists throughout the U.S. The address is:
www.gototahiti.com

Have fun!

I personally have had great experiences with Tahiti Travel Planners... twice!

Their site is at gotahiti.com, but you don't have to go thru the web to contact them--their phone number is on the site.

They planned our honeymoon & second honeymoon and included lots of honest advice (not upselling!) and extras when we arrived.

Enjoy your honeymoon & congrats! One other comment--wait a day or two after the wedding before you go. You'll be much more alert and able to enjoy the trip. We left the following day and were soooo tired the first few days.

I have to agree with the comment above- Tahiti Travel Planners (aka TTP) seems to know the islands better than anyone we spoke to. We found that working with them was invaluable because they definitely knew things that other agents didn't have a clue about.

They have another website at located at www.millenniumtours.com That is the site we used when we planned our trip. On that site they have a section called Client Testimonials and a Best of Tahiti section, which are both fun to read and have good comments and suggestions.

The biggest thing we found when we were planning our vacation was that the guide books and some other companies we spoke with acted like they knew the hotels but their information was, in many cases, wrong or outdated. Because of that inaccurate information we almost made a big mistake on our hotel selection in Bora Bora. We thought we knew for certain which hotel we wanted based on what we had read in the books and what a couple of other agents had told us, but the agents at Tahiti Travel Planners had different information and explained in detail about the Bora Bora hotels and gave us information that no one else had told us about the hotel we wanted having just changed ownership and actually being in need of renovations. They shared some comments from other clients who had just stayed there and were disappointed by the hotel.

As a result, we booked with Tahiti Travel Planners and we switched hotels based on the advice of the agent at TTP. We are very thankful that we did the switch because the hotel we switched turned out to save us money and was much better than the hotel we had originally chosen. We know this because we made a point of visiting the other hotel and seeing a bungalow.

The books (Lonely Planet and Jan Prince's guide)we used and other agents we spoke with had assured us that our original hotel selection was the best. All I have to say to that is: HA! It is true that our original hotel selection was the most expensive option, but we would have been very disappointed if we had followed that mis-information.

TTP was also the only company that flat out told us to avoid the hotel dinner meal plans on Moorea and Bora Bora and they took the time to fully explain why the dinner meal plans were something that we should not include. That was definitely good advice. Other companies said we should get the dinner meal plans, and we later found out that they make commission on the plans - which we assume explains why the other companies were encouraging us to get the dinner plans.

We felt like Tahiti Travel Planners was the only company who gave us the most accurate and honest advice. They even followed up with us after the trip to make certain everything went well. We really appreciated that and we gave them permission to quote us (which they did on their website) I can't say enough good things about our experience with them.

Kenny and Susan

If you are a diver, World of Adventure Vacations specializes in diving trips. They put together our Tahiti trip. I used them not because of diving (we just snorkel) but because they were local to us. Located in El Segundo, CA (Los Angeles). www.worldofdiving.com
