Transit Visa Australia
I am an Indian citizen and was refused an Australia transit visa as I did not share a New Zealand visa in my application
My travel plan was to transit in Sydney for 2 days on my return from New Zealand back to India. I provided proof of my onward flights from Sydney to India & Sydney hotel booking. But, the visa was refused as I did not share a New Zealand visa. Is that correct? Could it be that they misunderstood that I am departing Sydney for New Zealand? I have not yet applied for a New Zealand visa as the NZ application would require me to show an Australia transit visa as proof of my onward journey. Thanks in advance. |

It sounds like there might have been a mix-up with your transit visa application. If you’re only passing through Sydney on your way back to India and not heading to New Zealand from Australia, you generally wouldn’t need a New Zealand visa for that. It’s possible the visa officer misunderstood your itinerary. I’d recommend reaching out to Australian immigration to clarify the situation and maybe reapply with a clear explanation of your travel plans. Make sure to provide proof of your flights and accommodation in Sydney.
