Tranportation for getting around in Sydney
P.S.
Should we take a Taxi or hire a driver of use public transportation?? |
Use public transport. There are buses everywhere (including government buses from the airport) and the trains cover just about everywhere you'd be likely to go (including the Blue Mounytains and Canberra). Taxis are plentiful but quite expensive, and if they get stuck in traffic, you watch the meter tick over and your money drain away. Hire a driver? Labour is expensive in Sydney -- it's not like India or Fiji -- so that sounds like an option only for Nicole Kidman when she pops back in town.

LOL
I am not Kidman Thanks for the info Alan. appreciate you early response. |
As our guru Alan says, go with public transport.
Don't even think of hiring a car to get around in Sydney. |
Hi,
I agree the public transport is easy to use and lots of it. The other option of course is walking, thats pretty easy too for many of us. We took a taxi on our first ever night in Sydney and the guy just drove about for ages, it turned out that the area we wanted we could have walked in 5 mins, beware taxi drivers are leaches. Have fun Muck |
regular busses go everywhere and are very cheap. If you get a Day Tripper ticket you can go anywhere in the city for a day on bus, ferry, or train. They have "Explorer" busses, too, for hop on hop off touring, but if you have an itinerary that doesn't follow their schedule, you can waste time on the bus. A lot of people have used the train but we stuck to the busses. Drivers were helpful. Taxis are quite expensive. BTW, Sydney is great for walking!
