Tours in Tibet and Nepal
 

I was thinking of visiting Tibet and Nepal in the late spring or early summer of next year. Since I will probably be traveling alone, I thought I would join a tour. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tour that is somewhat adventurous? I don't have a lot of time so trekking is probably out of the question.

Amy, haven't been there but my daughter lived there for two years while in Peace Corps. I will get her to send you some info in the next few days. I had planned to visit there in early summer, but did not. It is extremely hot, and I live in the deep south! Also, it's the monsoon season. Do you have permission to go to Tibet? It's very difficult to get permission from the Chinese to enter Tibet--will get back with you asap

I have a girlfriend who just returned from asia and travelled by herself. She said no problem just be street savvy. She also met tons of people and would travel with groups for short periods of time. My cousin leved in India for 3 years and travelled in Tibet and Nepal by herself and reported no problems.. You may want to conmsider wearing a wedding band as they respect married women. We are going next October for trekking etc. WE heard the spring can often be clouded over . My aunt said she never got to see the Himalayas because they were always covered with clouds. They say October is busy but the clearest time for viewing.

Am planning a three-week long trip to nepal beginning dec 7th. only have US$500 to spend..any

Nepal is a mystical and fascinating destination. 3 days in the Kathmandu area is sufficient. Do vist Patan, Bhaktapur, and Kathmandu. The Lonely planet is an excellent guide. At any major hotel you can hire a tour guide and car for $64 us per day. Quite a bargain. The Bodnath temple,and Hindu temple where they have the cremations, most fascinating,and the monkey temple. Wonderful people and culture. We did not get to trek but heard that Pohkara is the place and it is easy to find your journey when you are there. We liked the yak and yeti hotel better for its food, than the Holiday Inn-which had nice rooms. Email for more info. Happy travels, gail
