Tour operators at Ayers Rock?
 

We will be visiting the Red Center for 3 nights in September and we'd like some advice on which tour operators to choose. We would like to see both Uluru and the Olgas and also Kings Canyon. We will be flying in to Ayers Rock and out of Alice Springs. <BR>We've read about Sahara Tours and AAT King but we're not sure what they're like and who they cater for. We're in our mid-30's so we would like tours that does not cater for 18-25 year olds.

Hi Simon: <BR>Been to Ayers Rock but with a tour that originated in Sydney. We have taken AAT King on another tour in Melbourne. Were well pleased with them. First class coaches and well qualified tour guides. <BR>The tour was a mixture of age groups. <BR>John

hi simon, <BR>we went on a 3 day camping trip with sahara. the group we were in were mostly over 30. we also had a few folks in their 50's and 60's. it was a pretty varied group, 5 of us from the u.s. and the rest from different parts of europe. we had a great time. the dynamics of the group was pretty good, everyone was pretty friendly and we split into several groups when we went on our hikes. <BR>i think wayback tours and northern territory adventures cater more to a younger backpacking crowd.

Where you facing forward in the bus or lined up on seats along the side? <BR>Did the vehicle have air-con? What was the facilities like?

hi simon, <BR>our group was about 18. we ended up with 2 guides only because one was in training. i believe there is usually only one to a group. the nice thing about sahara is that they have permanent campsites. the tents are already erected at both ayers rock and kings canyon campgrounds, and, at ayers rock, we had our own showers and bathrooms at our site (but not at kings canyon, but it wasn't a problem). i would call it a light duty participation camping trip. we helped with washing dishes and collecting firewood. <BR>we were in a van, which towed a trailer with our gear. all the seats faced forward and it was air conditioned (although it didn't seem to work really well at times and it was really hot when we went in january - 110 d F). <BR>you are making a good decision to fly into ayers rock. we did the same. when you book your tour, make sure you tell them that you will be starting the tour there. no problem at all. <BR>read about my trip at the url below: <BR>http://www.geocities,com/quimbymoy7/australiap.1.html <BR> <BR>feel free with any other questions.
