Tikehau vs. Beachcomber

O.K., now I have another option in the mix... I've decided that for our one night pre-cruise, we will stay on Tahiti. So, I now need to decide between the Tikehau and the Beachcomber. Any opinions?

Are either of them too far from the Port? Thanks!

OOPS! Someone told me that the Tikehau was on Tahiti~ guess I won't be staying there after all!

Stayed at the Tahiti Beachcomber a few years back and really liked it. It'd directly on the water and looks out over the "Sea of the Moon" to Moorea. Also has a terrific sand-bottomed horizon pool that was featured on the front of the Costco travel booklet a year or two ago. Very near the airport so you do from time to time get a little bit of plane noise (not too much of a bother though as there are not that many flights). All in all a decent choice.

Thanks! I have reserved a panoramic room. Airplane noise won't bother me too much- it seems that wherever I live, I'm always in the flight pattern somehow!

Are there any other hotel recommendations for Tahiti? I don't seem to see much.

FYI - Most visitors don't spend too much time on Tahiti. They pretty much do what you are doing - spend a day or 2 there on either end (or both ends) of their vacation. The tail end of our trip we booked a day trip (though the hotel) over to Moorea to tour the island and swim with the dolphins at the Dolphin Quest at the Moorea Beachcomber (Intercontinental). It was a lot of fun.

Our other day (actually just part of a day) there we toured the market in Papeete and had dinner at the roulettes down by the waterfront (where you ship will be) - best dining bargain on the island!

When it comes time to leave you'll find you don't want to go home. French Polynesia is lovely.
