Still looking for a serviced apartment for a three month stay in Sydney. Is anyone familiar with The Peak Apartments located at 2 Quay Street? Thanks

this place is in chinatown....how is your cantonese?..I would guess quite a few asian students in these apartments.

I would think you are going to struggle to get a reasonable city apartment in your desired price range.
Do you have a specific reason to be in town?

and do some searches...use their search engine to narrow it down..

personally i would search for one bedroom places in sydney's north.

cremorne,neutral bay,crows nest,kirribilli...

crows nest might be in your price range....15 minute bus ride to the city..excellent restaurants...woolworths grocery..middle class area..

How about the Pacific International? Apartments there are $AUD135 a night on Wotif at present.... this hotel is also down near Chinatown, close to Sydney Terminal (where you can catch a train to Circular Quay in seven minutes). It's not the best part of Sydney, but that is a very good rate for an apartment in the city, and the place is certainly nicer than Napoleon-on-Kent, which I mentioned to you on another thread.

These apartments are on the main western train line out of Sydney, and from Strathfiels Station (where ALL the trains stop, including the Blue Mountains and Newcastle expresses)you should never have to wait more than five or six minutes for a train. Best of all, these apartments' stated rates ALMOST meet your criteria, and the websites suggest that if you are prepared to stay three months, they are prepared to do a deal. Owzat!

Here are a few more websites to look at. Forgot to mention that Strathfield is just under fifteen minutes by train from the city. Drummoyne (one of the links below) is a nicer suburb, no rail nearby, but frequent buses to the city, around twenty minutes. Hope that this list makes up for the fact that you asked on three different threads without getting the info you wanted!

Funny you should mention Randwick, as just yetsreday I happened to be in that area and saw two "serviced apartment" signs along Alison Road, and I thought to myself, "When I get onto Fodor's next time, I really must tell Myrtle about these". It's quite a pleasant area -- famous mainly as for its racecourse, but also fairly close to the beach at Coogee, and also close to Centennial Park, which is a nice walking area with lakes, bike tracks, etc (in fact, the two apartments on Alison Road are directly opposite this park). Waterloo is closer in to the city, but I don't think it's as pleasant an area, especially for a long stay (traditionally a run-down fringe-of-the-city area, cramped old houses and some small factories, recently well-regarded by young upwardly-mobiles and now very trendy -- get the picture?) You wouldn't have any trouble with transport either way: buses only to Randwick, (no trains out that way), and from most of Waterloo you could stroll into the city.

That's great, Myrtle... I can't recall which of the two places I saw was the one you chose, but they are practically next door to each other, so there's no difference in location; one, I recall, was a converted old house, very homely. What price did you finally settle on?

We are paying $8010 AUD for three months. It is equivalant to a four star facility with an indoor and outdoor pool, gymnasium, etc. I think we will be very pleased with this accomodation. I'll try to remember to let you know after we arrive. Thanks! Myrtle.

We have been in Sydney for one week at the serviced apartments in Randwick - Phar Lap Gardens. We are very pleased with the apartment - it is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. We can be in Circular Quay in 15 minutes and Coogee Beach in 10 minutes. The bus stops right in front of the apartment. We bought a weekly travel pass and have used it a lot in the past week.
