The Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort - Have You Been There?!?!

I was just wondering if anyone has been to this resort? My husband and I are going to Fiji for two weeks in October and are staying here for a week and also at the Qamea Resort for a week. Does anyone have and tips, advice or trip reports to share? And although it's inconsequential to us (I'm just curious), does anyone know if Jean-Michel has air conditioned bures? Thanks in advance! :)

How much is this trip by plane to Lizard Island (US$ or AUD$)? I have read much and I see different prices.

Sorry--- posted to wrong place. Should be with Lizard Island info.

No, because it is too expensive so I would assume with that in mind that it will have air conditioning

Cousteau does not indicate that they have A/C and I don't believe any top class resort with bure type construction would. A couple of years ago while at Matangi we visited Qumea when a couple moved over. Neither of these have A/C and I don't think top resorts such as Turtle Island, Namale and Vatulele do either. A/C is mostly found in the popular tourist areas near Nadi.

I'd get away from the main islands and go to the outlying ones. You'll get more of a Fiji experience, than a typical big hotel one.

We stayed at Qamea recently, and all the bures have air conditioning, as does the gym. Cousteaus's does not have air conditioning as far as I know. I loved their bathrooms and spa, and the snorkelling right in front of our bure was incredible You will have a wonderful time at Qamea Resort, please give a big hug for us to Amelia, Sake, Mere, Sara, and all the staff!

thanks mikekwanz for your reply on qamea. i just read a report (from "lisa" i think?) re: matangi which relayed a really negative picture of the resort and so i'm SO GLAD we didn't book there! (we almost did b/c of all the eave reviews from this site and thank GOD we didn't!). anyway, i will be sure to tell everyone at qamea that you said hello mike! we're off in one month and we CAN'T WAIT!
