You have really helped me decide to spend four days going along the Ocean Road-thanks for the trip report. Instead of returning to Melbourne, could you have continued to Adelaide? Anyone-how much longer and please suggest highlights of Adelaide

So glad I've persuaded you ;-) It was FANTASTIC. We wanted to include the Grampians (Hall's Gap) and our time was limited -- so Adelaide wouldn't have worked for us. I haven't been there--so I can't comment. But it certainly seems do-able.

It was such a great trip--and I do a lot of traveling. This was a very special area and I absolutely loved it.

I loved your trip report, and the photos! I'm at the beginning stages of planning my family trip to Australia next year and we'll definitely be including the Great Ocean Road.

I haven't been here (Fodor's) for a while and the first thing I read is your wonderful trip report and it has made me miss Australia soooooo much. I have saved your report for when we travel the GOR--soon, I hope. What a wonderful experience for you, glad you resurrected your holiday after the rain in NZ.

Wonderful report. I'm glad you enjoyed that bit of our country.

I'm so jealous! When I was down that way, the fog was so heavy you couldn't see your nose on your face, and didn't lift all day. Perhaps I should aim to go there again!

What's your next trip?

Thanks so much for your kind comments.

What's your next trip?

I've been to six countries so far this year. I like my life! ;-)

Since returning from Australia/New Zealand I've already been to Philadelphia and New Jersey -- and back.

Now I'm counting the days (seven!) until I return to paradise: Kauai--in the Hawaiian Islands. Kauai has a hold on me that's impossible to explain. I've been to many beautiful, wonderful destinations -- but I've never felt anything like that. I yearn for it when I'm away -- and grieve when I leave.

You're torturing me Songdoc...I haven't seen Kauai for about 12 years. Have fun.

Songdoc-I am booking the car/plane to repeat your adventure, how many days did you spend in this beautiful area? And would you shorten a week in Sydney and stay here a few extra days?

Thanks,

Oops ... I'm in Kauai (aka "paradise") and haven't checked this thread in a while.

I spent five wonderful days touring the Great Ocean Road and Hall's Gap. It would have been nice to have an additional day or two.

I love Sydney -- but if I had limited time, I'd cut it down a bit.

great pictures !!! thanks for sharing !!! I was in the GOR well 19 years ago and it is now maybe time to go there again !!

Kauai is also my favourite island in Hawaii !! The highlight was the heli tour over the Na Pali Coast, one of the most beautiful spot I have ever seen in this continent (48 countries visited !)
