The Great Ocean Drive

I want to do this trip without driving my self (worried about the road and the right sided driving) and would rather not do a bus trip. Is there such a thing as a driver that would accompany us for the 2-3 day/night trip? Any suggestions as to cottages/bed and breakfasts on the way?

My husband did not want my daughter and I to drive in Oz -- so I did book a private tour to do the Great Ocean Road in one day (it was a full day but so worth it!). We saw Kangaroos, Koalas in the wild, rain forest and the 12 Apostles in one trip. We used Kalinda Tours -- check the visit victoria website for tours infomation. The coastline is simply stunning and not to be missed.

You might like to check out The Wayward Bus - www.waywardbus.com.au for bus trips along the GOR. I have overseas relatives who have used this group and were very happy with them. It is possible to do only a part trip with them as that is what my relatives did, they joined the tour at Anglesea and went through to Adelaide.

If you click on my name and scroll down far enough you will come up with a list of B&B's which I have posted in the past.

GOR in a day is fairly manic. Wayward Bus does a great, great, but much longer trip from MLB to ADL (I did it in reverse). If they allow you to join for just part of it then that's a good way to go. But why not make the time to do the whole shebang. You won't be disappointed. And so much more fun.

I did it using the car and liked it a lot because we could stop everywhere I thought would be a nice photo. Not like in a bus with only the scheduled stops and the rest you take through the window. Using the car made it easier to really see the G.O.R. but the driver said it was very tireing. And he could not really look at the scenery and had to concentrate on the road. It's so twisty/turny... So both have pros and cons, bus or drive.
