Tea Tree Oil?
Hi! I have been reading up on all of the wonderful benefits of using tea tree oil. It is said that Australia produces the best oil. Can anyone recommend a top rated brand that would ship internationally? The Body Shop sells it, but it contains only 15% pure tree tea oil. Thanks for any tips!

Remembering seeing a plantation on Kangaroo Island, I ran a search which revealed that the Kangaroo Island Shop sells 100% pure tea tree oil. You can order online at www.kangarooislandshop.com.au
A 100 ml bottle costs AU$26. If you're in North America, shipping would be AU$17 (up to 0.5 kg). Pure tea tree oil is produced also by Thursday Plantation at Ballina in northern New South Wales (www.thursdayplantation.com). They don't seem to have a mail order service, but their web site has a list of distributors in quite a few countries. The tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) is an Australian native. You can read more at this web site published by the Australian National University, Canberra: http://sres-associated.anu.edu.au/fp...il/EssOil.html It seems that that production of essential oils from Australian species has mostly shifted to low-wage countries. |
I realize you're looking for tea tree oil, but if you're also interested in products made from tea tree oil, Trelivings (also Australian) makes wonderful Organic Tea Tree soaps, lotions, and other body care products. I have a bar of their soap right in front of me and it smells wonderful - it's one of my favorites.
Trelivings also makes a really nice Eucalyptus soap. I've found Trelivings products in Australia (of course), Singapore and oddly enough, once at a Marshall's store in the United States. You can also order on their website, but it appeares to be under construction at the moment. http://www.trelivings.com.au/ |
Desert Essence sells 100% Australian tea tree oil. Most of the health food stores and even Trader Joe's carry it. Although I don't know where you are, if you are in the US it is readily available here on line.

Tea tree oil in your foot spa does absolute wonders for sore, tired, achey feet.

Hey, thanks so much for the replies! I really appreciate it.
When I was in S. Korea a few weeks ago I bought some Tea Tree products. They were nice, but full of fillers and not very pure. I don't know if Tea Tree products just isn't very popular in Canada....I've had some troubles finding the pure stuff (Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place!) Thanks again! |
I have found pure Australian tea tree oil at both Walmart and Walgreens here in Minnesota!

For good old Aussie oils, try Emu Oil. Really helped me with some problems. The aborigines have used it for centuries so it must have some benefits. |
If I'm not mistaken, Australia is the only source of tea tree oil. The best company for a wide range of products is Melaleuca (based in Sun Valley, ID). They import the highest grade tea tree oil for their products and I love most of what they produce (although a few items can smell a bit medicinal).

Here is a link to an on line shop which will ship to Canada from the US. I did not take the time to read it properly but it said 100% Australian Tea Tree Oil but whether that meant that it was 100% Australian or 100% Tea Tree Oil I do not know They also sell some other products as well.

Yep I have done it again - forgetting to put in the link:

I think I read that the founder of the Body Shop empire has sold out to a multinational cosmetics company.
