Te Tiare on Huahine
 

Hola! <BR>I'm planning a honeymoon to Huahine for seven days in Sept. We're staying at <BR>Te Tiare. I'd love to get anyone's thoughts or opinions of the hotel and what room they prefer, garden bungalow or overwater.. <BR>Thanks in advance! <BR>Shanti

We stayed in a deep overwater bungalow at the Te Tiare and had a wonderful time. It's a beautiful resort, great location, remote, good snorkeling in the lagoon. Our bungalow was very spacious and comfortable. Lots of amenities; a/c, wet bar, mini-fridge, TV, walk-in closet,large bathroom,wrap around terrace. The staff was probably the friendliest and most helpful. Good choice!!

We spent four days last week in a garden bungalow here... what a great place! The garden bungalow is huge and well air-conditioned. Ours was right against the mountain, which was about two minutes from the beach. The overwater bungalows looked beautiful but snorkeling from the beach was great--we did our overwater at Le Maitai in Bora Bora. <BR> <BR>Do spend a morning exploring Fare. We met the best people in town! <BR> <BR>I have to tell our great Huahine story--We blew out our AC connection on a cd player with a bad converter. However, the great folks at the store across from the post office told us to take a bunch of D batteries back to the resort, test out the DC connection, and either bring back payment or the batteries the following day. What kindness! Can you imagine that in the states? Everyone we met was so nice. <BR> <BR>Everyone is great at the resort, too. Be sure and go to the lei demo for a great free souvenir that you get to make! <BR> <BR>My only caution--we were not able to rent a car for a half day -- my best guess is that the island is so small that demand outweighed availability.

Considering the rates for the Sofitel Heiva and the Te Tiare are about the same, I'd definitely choose the Te Tiare. I've stayed at both. The Sofitel is fine, however it is older and in need of some renovation. The Te Tiare is in a great location, the bungalows are large and very upscale. Also, the staff is great. Quite frankley, there is no comparison.
