Tasmania advice for route in DEC15.

As I didn't get any replies on the other thread, here goes another try...

We arrive in launceton at 3.40pm on DEC 22nd.
Just managed to do bookings for accommodation. 22/23rd in Swansea and 25/26 in Cradle Mountain.

What's a good place to stay on the 24th? Would prefer a smaller town or farmstay so not considering launceton bcos of that.
Thought of St. Helens , but it adds to the drive. Any better suggestions? Scenery preferred over history.

from Cradle mountain, will drive south to Lake St Claire for 1 night and then drive to Hobart. Is lake St Claire lodge a good place to base ourselves?Any recommendations?. Will do a few short walks only.

Hoping to stop in Mt fields NP to do the Russells waterfall walk bfr heading to Hobart for 2N, so that we don't have to drive back.

appreciate any advise on the route.

It seems a pretty odd route already. You have to drive half cross the state, past Launceston, to get to Cradle Mountain from Swansea.

Launceston, roughly half way, is not that big. Have a look at Deloraine.

I rather like the sound of Promised Land - no idea what's there, though! Google maps shows Tasmazia and the village of Lower Crackpot - that'd be enough to draw me in.

You may get better advice on Tripadvisor.

Sheffield is on your route. Great murals throughout the town, nice new motel.
