Tahiti..Package Advice

Hi all

I'm hoping to head to Tahiti or the Cook Islands for Honeymoon this September and thought I'd seek advice from the board.

My future wife and I are pretty seasoned independant travellers but it seems the best deals for Tahiti come packaged, therefore I was wondering if anyone had any advice or recommedations for agents or sites that offer the best deal (prob for 2 islands or more).

Also, if anyone is of the opinion that it can be done better or cheaper DIY I'd love to hear too.

Thanks in advance

hmmm, we didn't even consider a tour for our honeymoon unless you are using the term tour to mean preplanned? We purchased our airfare with hotels (that we chose individually) thru costco travel. I will say that you should get booking now for the best choices as Sept is only 3 months away!

My recommendations on Tahiti are for the islands of Rangiroa and Moorea. The island of Savage on Rangiroa specifically.

If you do your research to figure out what you want and then go to Costco Travel, if you are a member, you will find that their prices are pretty much unbeatable.

Congrats!

Tahiti is very expensive to dine out at. The cooks or Fiji will be much less. Agree about Costco for prices. we have used them 4 or 5 times in a row now.

Hi asynn: Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I went to tahiti last year, I am a fanatic about finding the best deal. After much research including costco, and many discount tahiti providers, I found my best deal with pleasantholidays.com My husband and I love going places that aren't crowded and we found just that in the island of Huahine. We stayed at the Te Tiare 6nights and 1 night in Papeete?(sp) Skip that 1 night in Papeete if you can, hated it. However Te Tiare was fantastic. Large thatched bungalows all are the same, just location is different. Food Awesome, we ordered room servive, split the meals and ate under the stars on our deck with candles of course, very romantic. Price incl air from Lax was $2600. We paid for Garden Bungalow, but when we arrived, we negotiated for $100 dollars more a night the Deep over the water Bungalow so total was $3200. Not much to do on island, diving is great, no shopping or town to speak of. I loved it.

Greetings from NZ
The family and I are off to Moorea 3rd week of September. Couldn't get Les Tipaniers or Hibiscus so are staying at Fare Vai Moana which doesn't have cooking facilities like the other two. We were planning to have two nights in Papeete at the end so I would be interested to get some feedback on whether we will need that much time or if half a day would be enough to catch the best bits?
Cheers
