Sydney to Lizard Island -- Flights

I'm so excited!! I'm finally going back to Oz in April. I'm currently looking at flights from Cairns to Lizard Island. I need something from Sydney to Cairns? What airlines do you suggest? Any other good ones that go from Cairns to Lizard Island?

Qantas, Virgin Blue and probably also Jetstar fly from Sydney to Cairns. They all have websites and that's the best way to book.

If you're flexible about dates, you should be able to get a good fare this far out. It's probably also to your advantage to get on the mailing lists of these airlines. Competition is fierce and somretimes they announce amazing fares via email - but you have to be quick.

Cairns to Lizard - no idea - but there wouldn't be much choice. Daintree Air is mentioned often here, and I presume they drop off at Lizard as well as taking day excursions.

Margo, I thought I read you'd taken your Aunt to Lizard Is. by canoe for her 75th B-day.

Still waiting for a special request and your snail mail address

Tanikwish - Cairns to Lizard is light aircraft - Lizard has only a small landing strip, sometimes featuring rather large lizards, would you believe. If you are staying at Lizard Island Resort they will arrange flight - for a day trip see other posters suggestions with Greg from Daintree Air.

Aunt has no interest in the Reef - this is a GOOD THING!

It means I can go there and do nothing if I want - much easier. I'm aiming to get up there in the next year or two - and do the Daintree Air thing to Lizard.

LI can certainly help with transportation but there is only two viable options. Either chartering a flight or going via Macair, the only commercial flight to LI which occurs once a day to drop arriving guests and pick departing guests

Here is Macair's website
