Sydney Sojourn

As an alternative to staying right in the centre of Sydney, this time we chose Bondi Junction – and what an excellent decision that proved to be!

Our one-bedroom apartment in the Meriton Compex was directly above the bus and train station, so transport to and from all parts of the city was right on our doorstep. We had chosen a deluxe apartment because it had an enclosed balcony – it certainly made for a much more spacious living area. The kitchen had a full cooktop, oven, microwave and dishwasher; the laundry had washing machine and dryer; the bathroom a full bath and walk-in shower; the bedroom a king-size bed, a great view of the harbour . . . in short, everything we could have wished for.

We stayed here both before and after a trip to Adelaide, so getting to and from the airport was a breeze. Our Seniors concession Opal card enabled us to explore the city at a cost of only $2.50 per day, and Sydney turned on glorious autumn weather for our stay. Barangaroo was a delightful parkland to walk through; the ferry trips to Taronga Zoo and Manly were most enjoyable; a stroll along Bondi beach made us realise just how popular it is with tourist buses, and we were able to get our fill of city shopping in the Westfield Centre across the road from our accommodation.

So now we’ve left the city life, and are most happy to return to our peaceful bit of paradise here in Port Stephens. Di

Thanks for posting this. It's nice to get a little different perspective on Sydney.
