Jane47, I have eaten at some of your listed restaurants.
Did you know that Tetsuyas Restaurant seems to win "Best Restaurant of the Year", nearly every year. Which organisation/book/or newspaper carried out the judging, as per your list?
It looks like the "Good Food Guide" from the Sydney Morning Herald, which in my opinion is one of the best guides to Restaurants in Sydney.

Jane47 - that's something I miss in Hervey Bay, not having so many good restaurants, like you get in Sydney.
We have one very good Thai Restauant on the Esplanade, called Diamond Thai.
I guess I will just have to catch fish & cook at home. Waiting for the mudcrabs to come back into the fish shops up this way, so I can cook my favourite dish....Singapore Chilli Crab.
First tasted this dish in Singapore with a singapore chinese friend of mine. It think the Restaurant was called, Fatties?

Hi Jane47...MG Garage closed at end of August. Not sure why and it was obviously sudden as the Herald's latest Guide which is only just on sale lists it as two hats descibing it as having "that WOW factor".

This is from the EGULLET forum -

"MG garage has been sold.. Its last day of trading will be Saturday Aug 28th. Apparently it will become an Asian style place."

I have a vague recollection that MG Garage's new birthing is as part of the Neil Perry stable.

fascinating stuff. I have eaten at Sailors Thai - and I have to say it was a big con. Far better off at Tuk Tuk down the road.

And best Indian? Sydney is almost a wasteland when it comes to "Indian" food, which I love. Have lost count of the times when I have looked at a menu and thought "this could be really great" - the words entice but the actuality is always a huge disappointment. Basically the meat/chicken/fish whatever come in a bland sauce regardless of the name of the dish. You pay for the decor not the food.

The best Indian in Sydney is, without a doubt - the Maya Masala in Surry Hills.

alice 13..We must be on the same wavelength.Disappointed with Sailors Thai...where is David Thompson when you need him? Also like Maya Masala.Cheers!
