For honeymoon-- need to make a decision...
I have reservations at all-- all comparable in price- but need to cancel all but one

Looking for a nice hotel that is in a great location- easy walking to places, etc.

choices:
Shangri-La
Intercontinental
Westin
Sydney Mariott Harbor @ Circular Quay

ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Really depends on what you want to be close to and being summer, I'd be looking at a beach location Manly/northern beaches way myself and take a ferry across to the city a couple of times if wanting to for Sydney like all cities with masses of concrete sucks that heat in and it can be rather muggy.

I would drop the Westin from the list. All the others have better locations. The Marriott is rated just a bit higher on Trip Advisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g2...es-Hotels.html

The Four Seasons Sydney is lovely and if you can get a corner suite/room up high, with the view of the bridge..opera house and darling bay..stunning!
Stayed a week a couple of years ago and can't rave enough of our time at the hotel and the city.

Check the FS website on deals..anything with 'honeymoon' is usually not a deal.

I'm a local and have stayed in all except the Mariott.

I'd probably opt for the Intercontinental.
1. It has an interesting history, having been the old Mint building. The hotel is built behind the Mint facade and features a quite charming cortile.
2. It's less than 5 mins walk to the Opera House, Circular Quay and adjacent to the Botanic Gardens.

3. If you request a harbour/gardens/bridge & opera house view, you'll most likely get it.

4. It doesn't appear to feature on the major inbound tourist agendas, in contrast to the Shangri-La and, more latterly, the Four Seasons.

I would recommend the Four Seasons Sydney; I found rates were lower there than at some of the other places you've listed. They are just a few blocks from everything and you can have a view of the Sydney Opera House. The Four Seasons Sydney is my favorite place in Sydney. You may not want to book a specific honeymoon package or room rate, but don't hesitate to let them know that you are celebrating your honeymoon during your stay.

Unfortunately the Four Seasons was booked during our time.

So far from what people have said, I eliminated the Westin and I think the Mariott- but am still not sure between the Shangri-La and the Intercontinental.

Well both are quality hotels and in brief I'd qualify their location advantages as:

Intercontinental - closer to Botanical Gardens in that they are across the road - http://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/welcome...ing_your_visit

Shangrila - closer to rocks precinct but also right adjacent to Harbour Bridge main thoroghfares of Bradfield Hwy and Cahill Expressway, the continuation of which also separates the Intercontinental from the Gardens precinct, neither being in what you would call peaceful locations but soundproofing gives you that when cocooned within.

The thoroughfares adjacent to the Shangrila are elevated and it is an easy enough walk in/out proposition and easy enough to follow the pedestrian ways around the Quay area into Rocks, Opera House/Botanical gardens areas or uptown, Darling Harbour etc.

I have stayed at the Intercontinental many times and can thoroughly recommend it - especially if you request a room on the Executive floor and thereby have access to the Lounge which serves breakfast and evening cocktail with an absolutely stunning view of the harbour.
It is an easy walk either to Circular Quay or the CBD.

Sorry to hear about the FS being booked..keep checking though since I see a lot of cancellations on 4-5* hotels that were booked but have opened up due to the economy.
Intercontinental Hotel is a great second choice.
