sydney hotel stay

I'm finally making the trip to OZ and though we'll be a bit conservative at most stop - we have decided to pick a great hotel with a view in Sydney - Of those hotels in Sydney which would you recommend for view?

Patti Nov 15th, 2001 09:07 AM

We had a fabulous view from the Quay West..a 5 star apartment hotel.

We overlooked the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

We were glad we paid more to get such a view. Figured we could stay in less fancy places elsewhere to save money.

Consider the Hyatt Hotel, right on the Harbour, but pretty expensive. The Regent is cheaper, but need to specify that you want a Harbour view. Likewise - Intercontinental.

Hi Dick

Thanks for the advice on the Quay West - Tell me did you make your reservations by e-mail with them or did you call them direct? Either way - do you have a number I can reach them at?

Patti Nov 16th, 2001 11:04 AM

Thanks Margo - the Hyatt looks fantastic but I'm HOPING for something a little less pricey. If you have any other tips for Melbourne or Brisbane - I'd truly appreciate them.

In Melbourne you have to stay at the Windsor which is a lovely old hotel and in Brisbane I would stay at either of the following: The Sheraton, The Hilton, Lennons Hotel - the latter 2 are right on the Queen Street Mall which is so convenient. The Sheraton is not too far away and some of the rooms there have nice views over the city.

Patti,

I made reservations directly with the hotel via email and privided a credit card number via fax to guarantee the reservation. I did not go through thier reservation service.

Telephone: 61 2 9240 6000
Facsimile: 61 2 9240 6060

http://www.mirvac.com.au/hotelv3/hotelhomepage/gallery.cfm?HotelId=10

The Park Hyatt is the best, and if you want more information please feel free to e-mail me. It is worth the extra $$$$$.

Patti
We stayed at the Holiday Inn on George Street. Had a good view of the Opera house from the rooftop, as well as the Bridge. Don't know the cost because it was a pre=paid trip, but the accommodations were nice and was a GREAT location for walking.
