Sydney Hotel advice

Hello all,
Can anyone recommend to us hotel/apartments in Sydney. We will be in Sydney July 2-5 and want to stay relatively close to the Harbour. Budget is approx A$100-$175.(A good gym for a workout after a 17hr flight) Has anyone stayed at Goldsbrough Apartments Darling Harbour? With 2 adults/2 kids 12/14 we have read some hotels won't allow 4 people to a room. Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi Fireguy,
There are plenty of apartments/Hotels in the area and I am sure Alan will be along soon to help you in his usual informative way.
Meanwhile I can tell you we have booked the Sydney Waldorf Apartment Hotel on Liverpool st for our stay in December.
Not totally sure what its like but there were several positive posts on this site when I enquired And Alan walked down to check where it was and he says location is good. Its not directly amongst the hustle of the harbour and Rocks etc, this suits us fine.
Last time in Sydney we stayed at the Marriott by Hyde Park which was great value for our family of 4.
Good luck and I am sure the great man will soon appear.

Hello - I have heard the Goldsborough apartments are quite small and dark and pretty noisy. The building is located right next to the Anzac Bridge/Western Distributor. So I would be cautious. Others may have a better idea if they have stayed there.

The area is not bad however, it is on the light rail and monorail lines and is a short stroll over to Darling Harbour/Cockle Bay shops and restaurants and is a pleasant walk into town. Other hotels in this area are the Novatel/Ibis/Grand Mecure and the Star City Casino Hotel which may be worth considering (not sure of prices though). If you want to stay close to the harbour it may be worth considering The Rocks/Circular Quay (though this area will be more expensive).

The grace hotel was amazing. We walked to darling harbour and it is very safe. Right by shopping and everything. It cost about 100 US dollars per night but it was clean and very well run. ANy more questions then email me at [email protected]. Thanks Bruce

Just a note on the Waldorf Apartment Hotel on Liverpool St. We had a confirmed reservation guaranteed with a credit card, but were turned away when we arrived at 5 PM on a very busy Saturday night. Very upsetting!
