Sydney harbour bridge climb........
 

Will be visiting Sydney next month and want to do the bridge climb. I can't decide between the day or night climb. Any suggestions pleaseeeeee???????? I wish l could do both!!!!! <BR> <BR>Thanks in advice8)

Hi Nelly, <BR>I was in Sydney in Mar. and I didn't climb the bridge, but I did walk all the way across and back. There are some beautiful views from that bridge. <BR>The harbour is of course most beautiful at night because of all the lights, but we had trouble capturing it on film. I did, however get a couple of beautiful rolls during the day.Might base your decision on that if pics are important to you.It costs around $100-125Au. for the climb. <BR>If you have anymore questions e-mail me.I was there for 2wks and also went to Port Douglas for reef and rainforest experience. we started out in the daylight, and it was getting dark when we came down. I loved Australia, the people were so nice! I think you will enjoy either day or night.

We did the climb at 3pm. It was beautiful. We could see the harbor, blue mountains, islands and communities that surround the harbor as the leader pointed them out over the radio. At night you would see more lights than specific geographic features. You don't get to take a camera on the climb; the leader takes all the pictures. Our day ones were wonderful in that you can clearly see the opera house in the background. To me, the temperature would be the biggest issue- it got much colder and very windy as the sun sank during the return of our climb, and it will still be winter when you go there. <BR>That said- It was truly an incredible climb. Worth every penny! This from a woman who does not do well on hikes or high places! This is one of those 'must do' things, and I don't think you'll be disappointed with either of the time slots.

My only regret in Oz..is that I didn't do the bridge climb. <BR> <BR>Absolutley, do it.

Little disappointed about not being allowed to take cameras up with you but l understand the safety aspect. Also found out that the weekend night climbs are 175.00 aus. For about $125 AUD in the day to $150 AUD during the night. It depends on in the daytime. On a clear day. A breath Taking view of the Sydney Harbour, The Opera House and the city. To Nightime. Can someone who's done the bridge climb tell me how long it takes? I only have 2 days in Sydney the end of August and am trying to decide how to best spend those 2 days. I'd love to do the bridge climb if it doesn't take too long and take away from other important sites in Sydney. <BR>Thanks, <BR>Martha <BR>

To Martha: The Sydney Bridgeclimb would roughly take around three hours to complete. A rough idea of what time i got in and got out. In at 12:30PM and Out around 3:30PM. If you can spare that much time for sightseeing. Who Knows. While up there you can plan your other sightseeing adventures from the top! =)

The pre-climb instruction and climb itself takes nearly 4 hours, but it's a blast. I got a kick out of the alcohol breath test during the instruction portion. Definitely do the night climb. We did ours around 10 AM and I kept wishing it was at night. The city lights are fantastic. You can't take cameras or anything that might fall on cars below. Glasses and caps must be attached with clips to your jump suit. At the end they give you a certificate and one picture of the group. The guide takes four pictures of each climber that can be purchased after the climb. Each climber is equiped with a radio and ear set to enable them to hear the guide during the climb. The climb itself is not at all strenuous nor is it scary in terms of fear of heights. You are clipped onto a cable at the start and cannot unclip until the end of the tour (you couldn't jump or fall if you wanted to). They take each group up very slowly so no one gets worn out and the guides give a very comprehensive history of the bridge. It was the best thing we did in Sydney and was worth every penny!

By the way we did the day climb, but our friends said the night climb was really good.
